The Process & Getting Started

It starts with a conversation at our showroom at 321 Pier Avenue, Hermosa Beach, or at your home. First we ask about the dimensions of the room the sofa will be placed in and how you use the space. We then design and spec your ideal sofa: you choose the fabric and we confirm all the details in writing. Your sofa is then built at our LA workshop, and delivered to your home or project site within 4 - 6 weeks.

Please feel free to visit us in-person at our showroom at 321 Pier Avenue, Hermosa Beach, from Monday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm (closed Sunday).

Bring whatever you have — dimensions, photos, floor plan, or nothing at all. We’ll help you with the design process. In the showroom you’ll be able to view our sofa’s, try out different styles and see fabrics.

Yes. Every sofa is built to your exact dimensions: width, depth, seat height, arm height, and back height all specified to your brief.

The customer is responsible for ensuring accessibility and clearance for deliveries involving elevators, stairs, hallways, and building entryways. Our most available and requested fabrics are performance linen and performance velvet. We offer specialist fabrics in natural blends if needed. All our upholstery-grade fabrics have a double rub counts of 30,000–100,000, compliant with California and federal thermal requirements.

Performance fabrics are the most practical choice for homes with children or pets. We use performance linen and performance velvet for our custom sofas, they have high double rub counts and are designed for daily use.

Performance linen is the most specified fabric for coastal Los Angeles homes — Malibu, Marina del Rey, Venice, Santa Monica. These fabrics handle salt air, direct sun, and daily use while looking like natural linen.

There is no warranty on fabric. Our performance upholstery fabrics carry double rub counts of 30,000–100,000 and comply with California and federal thermal requirements. Excessive friction can lead to pilling over time. Down fillings require regular fluffing. Our lifetime warranty covers frame and craftsmanship only.

Yes, we provide white-glove delivery of custom sofas throughout Los Angeles. The customer is responsible for ensuring accessibility and clearance for deliveries involving elevators, stairs, hallways, and gated entryways. In cases where furniture cannot be delivered as-is and requires modification, redelivery fees and modification charges may apply. All delivery is arranged through Made By Inch's designated delivery company.

Warranty & Care

Made By Inch provides a lifetime warranty on the frame and craftsmanship of all upholstered pieces, including seams and tufting. The warranty will be considered void if signs of abuse or misuse are identified. There is no warranty on fabric.

Report any issues within 5 days of delivery - the pick-up fee is waived and all adjustments will be made at no charge. Issues reported after 5 days incur transportation fees. Contact contact@madebyinch.com within 5 days. Do not wait.
